“Money & Bible: Shocking Secrets about Financial Wealth, Tithing, and Giving” offers a fresh look at how faith and finances can align. The author—writing as Borth Vold—shares personal stories that illustrate biblical principles, revealing unexpected financial breakthroughs. He once earned a year’s salary in four months, started a family debt-free, and consistently felt guided by core convictions.
Early Life and Adventures
He spent his childhood in a village surrounded by mountains, rivers, and unspoiled nature. His family often gathered food from the land, instilling in him a strong work ethic. Over the years, he served as a professional soldier on challenging missions and experienced diverse cultures. He later studied math, physics, English, pedagogy, and information technology. Eventually, he taught, moved into the IT field, explored real estate, and worked as a self-employed problem-solver. These varied experiences shaped his analytical mindset and ability to untangle complex issues.
Discovering the Power of Tithing
His book addresses misconceptions about money, focusing on tithing and giving. Deuteronomy 14:23 mentions eating the tithe in God’s presence—suggesting that those who give may also share in what they’ve offered. This angle rarely appears in common teachings. He emphasizes that true wealth goes beyond money, encompassing purpose, and an awareness of God’s presence. Many assume tithing is a rigid requirement or fear that salvation involves payment. He counters these ideas, stating salvation is free and generosity naturally flows from gratitude. He describes remarkable instances of God’s provision, such as sudden financial windfalls or timely resources appearing just when needed. This “rich reward” extends beyond mere cash. It includes meaningful relationships, clarity of purpose, and a sense of joy in giving freely. The author wants people to view finances as an avenue to bless others—never a means of enforcing guilt.
Living Out Joyful Generosity
Throughout the book, he explores how faith and finances interconnect. He’s seen individuals leave church communities due to misunderstandings about money or pressure to give. His perspective leans toward unity—everyone can experience freedom when giving stems from genuine thankfulness. He himself enjoys the outdoors, cherishes family life, and views everyday blessings as gifts worth sharing. Even his travels and mission involvement taught him that an open heart welcomes fresh opportunities. He discovered that sharing resources expands one’s capacity for kindness. Rather than condemning wealth, he believes God can use it to further His purposes. His IT background enhances his scrutiny of biblical texts, leading him to conclusions that challenge long-held assumptions. “Money & Bible” demonstrates that finances can align with a believer’s core values, rather than stand in conflict.
A Legacy of Hope
His narrative provides practical insights for anyone seeking financial security anchored in biblical truth. The book weaves together scriptural references and real-life anecdotes, reminding readers that money is neither inherently good nor bad—it’s a tool. He assures them that debt, fear, or misconceptions needn’t bar them from experiencing God’s blessings. He also highlights how generosity often returns in unexpected ways—sometimes through deeper spiritual understanding, sometimes through financial gain. In both cases, trust in God forms the cornerstone. He’s convinced that gratitude reshapes outlooks, leading to improved stewardship. Whether someone struggles with debt or hesitates to earn more, there’s freedom in recognizing that God’s plan includes both provision and grace. Readers who engage with “Money & Bible: Shocking Secrets about Financial Wealth, Tithing, and Giving” might find themselves reevaluating long-held beliefs. The author’s experiences suggest money can unite communities when approached with humility and joy. The goal isn’t accumulating wealth for its own sake; it’s inviting God to guide each decision. When people give cheerfully, they reflect God’s heart—and often receive blessings that extend beyond a bank account. He encourages believers to recognize that faith doesn’t require rejecting financial success. By merging spiritual conviction with practical wisdom, individuals can stand firm, knowing their finances mirror God’s generosity. This approach doesn’t deny the realities of earning or spending. It acknowledges that every resource can serve a higher purpose. Readers who heed this perspective discover that faith and finance needn’t clash. They move toward a future brimming with possibility—embracing a mindset where giving is joyful, success is shared, and gratitude sparks abundance in ways beyond mere numbers. This book is an invitation to let faith guide choices, trusting God to uplift those who honor Him with a free heart. We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is Bard, aka Borth Vold. I am a man and self-employed. I work in the IT industry and a little in real estate. I have been a Christian for a long time and have lived in many countries. I have also traveled a lot, including some mission trips. I teach often and write books.
Please tell us about your Book.
My latest book is about money, giving, and tithing in the Bible. I see many people struggling with these topics. Some believe they should not be rich or have a lot of money. Others blame wealthy people, thinking it is wrong to have money. Many are afraid to earn money, borrow money, or even succeed. Some think God does not want to bless them, while others believe God demands payment through tithing to be a Christian.
These are all misunderstandings.
In my book, I explore everything the Bible says about tithing, giving, and money. I go through both the Old and New Testaments, studying all the relevant verses. In the end, we find true financial freedom.
I have met many people who left the church because of money issues. Some felt rejected because they couldn’t tithe due to financial struggles. Others were told, ‘Becoming a Christian is easy—you just need to give 10% to the church.’ But salvation is free. God does not demand money from us. There may be special situations where giving is important, but the main message in the Bible is that God gives to us. In response, out of thankfulness, we give to others and bless those in need.
Joy, freedom, and gratitude are key themes in my book. It’s about truly understanding what the Bible teaches about money and living with financial peace.
Why did it take me many years to write this book?
First of all, I had to go through many personal experiences. I believe that when I gave generously, I was also richly rewarded. But being richly rewarded is not just about money. Of course, financial blessings are nice, and I have experienced them, but a truly rich life is about much more than wealth.
When we go to God, give from our hearts, and do our best for Him, He blesses us in all areas of life. True wealth includes money, but it also means having peace, purpose, and joy.
This book shares my journey. There were times when I earned a year’s salary in just four months. Other times, I received things I needed for free. But most importantly, I have always had God with me. In every challenge, He was there—guiding me, giving me purpose, and supporting me.
I never gave out of guilt. I always gave with a joyful heart, and because of that, I have lived in complete financial freedom. There is so much joy in this way of living, and that is what I want to share with you in this book.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
These are the strategies—the key principles in the Bible—that help us grow in faith.
To have faith or to strengthen our faith, we first need to meet God and experience Him. But this is a journey that can take some time. God is alive, and He will meet us in His own way and time. He wants to show us His promises, His goodness, and His blessings. He wants to give us motivation, joy, peace, and salvation. When we allow Him to work in our lives, our faith will grow naturally.
With faith comes joy, a positive attitude, guidance, motivation, and strength. This helps us live according to God’s will—not because we feel forced to obey laws, but because we are inspired and motivated by God Himself.
I once told my daughter, that if possible, she should do these five things every day:
📖 READ – Study God’s Word
🙏 PRAY – Talk to God
👂 HEAR – Listen to His voice
💖 GIVE – Be generous
🗣️ TELL – Share His goodness
If we can do these things out of joy, they will become something we love, not a burden. This will lead to success, fulfillment, and positive change—not only in our own lives but also in the lives of those around us.
Any message for our readers
I receive messages from my readers, and they tell me that this book is about much more than just money. While we focus on money in the book, the bigger goal is about you and God—being together and finding happiness. If you want to be someone who gives, you must first have something to give. You cannot give if you have nothing. When Jesus told us, ‘Give, and you shall receive,’ the first step—giving—implies that you must first have. How can you give if you have nothing? God already wants you to have, so that you can give, and in return, you will receive again. It’s a beautiful cycle: God blesses you, you give, you receive, and the cycle continues.
Thank you so much, Bard, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
