Some journeys are quiet revolutions. They begin in the heart long before the world notices. Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses. A Journey from Brokenness to Healing by Rhonda Harris captures that kind of revolution with honesty, warmth, and hard-earned wisdom.
Where the Story Begins
Rhonda Harris opens her memoir with a realization that reframes her entire life. She was born into brokenness, yet she did not see it clearly in her early years. Survival felt normal. Silence felt responsible. Even painful expressions of love seemed acceptable because they were familiar.
Growing up, Rhonda sensed that something about her experience felt heavier than it should. There were unspoken rules in her family, patterns that shaped how emotions were handled and how conflict was addressed. Fear and pride often stood in the way of vulnerability. Over time, these patterns hardened into what she later recognized as generational curses.
As a child and young woman, she tried to adapt. She worked to fit into expectations and maintain harmony. Still, there was an inner voice reminding her that life was meant to be more than endurance. That quiet awareness never fully disappeared. It waited patiently until she was ready to listen.
The memoir draws readers into that internal struggle. Rhonda writes with clarity and emotional depth, allowing the reader to sit beside her as she wrestles with identity, belonging, and purpose.
The Breaking Point
Life tested Rhonda in ways that left lasting marks. She speaks openly about trauma, abandonment, and betrayal. A strained relationship with her mother shaped her understanding of love and acceptance. The loss of her brother created a wound that reshaped her view of grief and family. These experiences were not isolated events. They were threads woven into a larger story of inherited pain.
Marriage and motherhood became defining chapters. As she raised her children, Rhonda began to notice echoes of her own upbringing surfacing in subtle ways. Emotional responses, communication styles, and coping mechanisms reflected patterns she had once accepted without question. That realization was sobering.
At some point, silence no longer felt safe. It felt suffocating. Rhonda understood that continuing along the same path would pass the same struggles to the next generation. She could either accept the cycle or confront it.
Faith became central during this season. Rhonda leaned on God’s grace during moments when her strength felt depleted. Prayer and reflection became daily disciplines. Healing required honesty, and honesty required courage. She began to speak truths that had been buried for years.
Her transformation did not happen in one dramatic moment. It unfolded through small decisions. She chose accountability. She chose forgiveness. She chose to face painful memories instead of avoiding them. Each step, though difficult, moved her closer to freedom.
Rewriting the Legacy
One of the most compelling aspects of Finally Figured It Out is Rhonda’s commitment to rewriting her family’s story. She does not present herself as flawless. She presents herself as intentional.
She describes herself as a fighter and a leader, qualities that once felt like survival tools. Over time, those same qualities became instruments of growth. Instead of reacting to pain, she learned to respond with clarity. Instead of repeating old behaviors, she created new rhythms within her home.
Her professional life reflects this evolution. With more than a decade of experience supporting military officials, medical professionals, and nonprofit teams, Rhonda has consistently poured into others. Service is woven into her daily work and personal calling.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she embraces her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother with joy. She finds comfort in cooking, reading, and sharing time with family. These details may seem simple, yet they represent something powerful. Peace now defines spaces that were once marked by tension.
Throughout the memoir, Rhonda speaks directly to readers who feel trapped in cycles they did not create. She understands the exhaustion that comes from carrying inherited wounds. At the same time, she offers steady reassurance. Change is possible. Healing is attainable. The cycle can end with one brave decision.
Reflections on Its Impact
By the final chapter, it becomes clear that this book is an invitation. Rhonda Harris offers her story as living proof that generational curses do not have to dictate the future.
Her writing is raw and sincere. She highlights the grace that carried her through pain. Readers are likely to see pieces of their own families within her experiences. They may recognize familiar patterns. They may feel prompted to examine their own silence.
Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses leaves readers with a simple but powerful truth. Being born into brokenness does not mean remaining there. With faith, determination, and honesty, a new legacy can be built. Rhonda’s journey stands as encouragement for anyone ready to step out of survival and into freedom.
We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I’m Rhonda Harris, a first-time author, speaker, and advocate for healing and generational transformation. I help women break free from cycles of pain, trauma, and limiting beliefs so they can walk in wholeness and purpose. Through my writing, speaking, and upcoming YouTube platform, I share real, raw experiences about healing, faith, sisterhood, and self-discovery. My mission is to create safe spaces where women feel seen, heard, and empowered to rewrite their stories.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey has been one of brokenness, resilience, and ultimately healing. I grew up navigating complex family dynamics, deep emotional wounds, and experiences that shaped how I saw myself and others. For years, I carried pain, anger, and survival habits that affected my relationships and my sense of identity.
But through faith, self-reflection, and intentional healing, I began to confront the generational patterns that had been passed down to me. I made the decision to stop running from my pain and start doing the inner work. My book, Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses – A Journey from Brokenness to Healing, is a reflection of that process. It’s my testimony of transformation and a reminder that healing is possible, no matter where you start.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The biggest strategy was choosing healing daily, even when it was uncomfortable. I had to be honest with myself, set boundaries, and release the need to control everything. I leaned heavily on faith, prayer, journaling, and surrounding myself with people who supported my growth.
I also learned that success isn’t perfection—it’s consistency. Small, intentional steps over time helped me rebuild my confidence and redefine what success looks like. Letting go of expectations and walking in alignment with who God created me to be was a major turning point.
Any message for our readers
Give yourself permission to heal and grow at your own pace. You are not your past, your mistakes, or the pain you’ve experienced. Healing is not linear, but every step forward matters.
You don’t have to carry everything alone. There is strength in vulnerability and freedom in letting go. The life you desire is possible when you choose yourself and trust the process. Your story still has purpose.
Thank you so much, Rhonda, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
