As the world grapples with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals are left dealing with a mysterious and persistent condition known as Long COVID. This illness presents a wide range of symptoms that can last for months or even years after the initial infection. Fatigue, brain fog, muscle pain, and autonomic dysfunction are just a few of the challenges that patients face. For both sufferers and healthcare providers, navigating Long COVID is daunting, but Dr. Robert Groysman, MD, is providing a roadmap with his two-volume series, The Complete Long COVID Handbook.
Through these books, Dr. Groysman offers a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to understanding and treating Long COVID and its related conditions, such as dysautonomia. With decades of experience in pain management and a focus on treating complex, chronic conditions, Dr. Groysman has become a leader in Long COVID treatment. His books provide a valuable resource for anyone affected by this condition.
Volume 1: The Complete Long COVID Handbook – A Deep Dive into the Condition
In The Complete Long COVID Handbook: Volume 1, Dr. Groysman tackles the daunting task of unraveling Long COVID’s many layers. With patients experiencing a wide variety of symptoms, from fatigue and chest pain to cognitive issues and shortness of breath, it’s clear that Long COVID affects individuals differently. Dr. Groysman approaches this complex condition with the expertise of a seasoned physician, presenting both the medical science behind Long COVID and practical strategies for managing it.
This book is designed to be accessible to everyone—patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers alike. Dr. Groysman breaks down the science behind Long COVID into understandable sections, making it easier for readers to comprehend how and why the body reacts in such diverse ways after a COVID-19 infection. With his deep knowledge of the subject, Dr. Groysman outlines the risk factors that make some individuals more susceptible to Long COVID and delves into potential triggers for its development.
A central theme of Volume 1 is the importance of individualized treatment plans. Dr. Groysman stresses that there is no universal cure or quick fix for Long COVID. Each patient experiences the condition differently, and treatments must be tailored to address the unique symptoms and challenges that arise. His book serves as a guide to help patients and their doctors collaborate in creating customized care strategies that focus on improving quality of life.
One of the strengths of this volume is the inclusion of practical, actionable advice. Dr. Groysman does not simply present medical theories—he provides real-world strategies that patients can implement. Whether discussing dietary adjustments, exercise regimens, or medications, he offers well-rounded insights that help patients manage their symptoms more effectively.
Volume 2: The Complete Long COVID Handbook – Focusing on Dysautonomia
In The Complete Long COVID Handbook: Dysautonomia: Volume 2, Dr. Groysman narrows his focus to one of the most troublesome aspects of Long COVID: dysautonomia. Dysautonomia refers to the malfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which controls many automatic functions of the body, including heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. For Long COVID sufferers, this can result in symptoms like dizziness, heart palpitations, and issues with regulating body temperature.
Dysautonomia is a condition that has left many patients feeling frustrated and misunderstood, but Dr. Groysman’s book offers a much-needed exploration of this critical topic. The second volume provides an in-depth look at how dysautonomia manifests in Long COVID patients and presents clear strategies for managing the condition. Dr. Groysman goes beyond the commonly recognized Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) to explore other ways that dysautonomia affects individuals.
Once again, the emphasis is on individualized care. Dr. Groysman makes it clear that each person’s experience with dysautonomia can vary widely, and treatment must be adjusted accordingly. His book guides patients on how to work with their healthcare providers to create a personalized plan that addresses their specific symptoms. This volume is particularly useful for those who have struggled to find effective treatment options for dysautonomia-related symptoms, providing hope and direction.
Dr. Groysman’s empathetic approach shines through in this volume, as he validates the experiences of those living with dysautonomia. For many patients, the struggle to find answers has been compounded by a lack of understanding from the medical community and society at large. This book not only offers solutions but also empowers patients by giving them the knowledge to advocate for themselves.
Dr. Robert Groysman’s Expertise in Long COVID Treatment
Dr. Groysman’s extensive experience in treating Long COVID makes him a trusted figure in the medical community. Having begun his work with Long COVID patients during the early days of the pandemic, he quickly recognized the need for specialized, comprehensive care. His unique approach, developed through years of research and hands-on patient care, focuses on treating the root causes of Long COVID rather than just alleviating symptoms.
Dr. Groysman’s pioneering use of techniques such as Stellate Ganglion Blocks (SGB) and his four-step mitochondrial dysfunction treatment plan have made a significant impact on patients suffering from fatigue, cognitive impairment, and other debilitating symptoms. He has also introduced the innovative combination of Stellate Ganglion Blocks with Epipharyngeal Abrasive Therapy (EAT) to address dysautonomia in Long COVID patients.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Groysman is deeply committed to educating both the public and the medical community about Long COVID. Through his books, website (covidinstitute.org), and an active online community, he provides essential resources for those seeking guidance on how to manage this condition.
Conclusion
Dr. Robert Groysman’s Complete Long COVID Handbook series offers invaluable insights and practical guidance for anyone impacted by Long COVID. His evidence-based approach, combined with his deep empathy for patients, makes these handbooks essential tools for navigating the complex landscape of Long COVID and dysautonomia. Whether you are a patient seeking relief or a healthcare provider looking to deepen your understanding of this condition, Dr. Groysman’s work provides a path toward hope and healing.
We had the privilege of interviewing the accomplished author; here are excerpts from the interview.
Please introduce yourself and tell us about what you do.
I am a physician who treats long covid. I have developed my own unique protocols that work. Over the last four years, I have been an advocate for those who were gaslit by their families, friends, coworkers, and doctors.
Please tell us about your work
I have developed a website with lots of information about long covid: covidinstitute.org. I run a large, long covid Facebook group and have created many instructional videos on YouTube. I see patients from all over the world.
I have created The Complete Long COVID Handbook series, Volume 1 and Volume 2. The goal of the books is to validate everyone who was gaslit. Organize and describe the causes and why they cause symptoms. To discuss possible treatments by looking at the causes instead of hunting and pecking to try the next best thing that comes out. Patients can give the book to their doctors to help them treat long covid.
For me, the complete long covid handbook series is meant to help:
1. To validate those who have been dismissed, ignored, and gaslit by their doctors, friends, family, and coworkers.
2. To genuinely show you what you are experiencing is absolutely real, is not your head, and is not due to anxiety.
3. those who seek to understand what is actually happening inside their bodies to cause long covid
4. those who are trying to help their loved ones and children who have no one else looking out for them
5. Educating other doctors who don’t understand long covid
This series is a work of passion for me. Long covid is still very much dismissed by most of the general public. I get tons of hate messages and emails. The best way to combat hate and ignorance is with education and information.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey started back before long covid was a thing. I was doing stellate ganglion blocks for PTSD and had some patients come through without any taste or smell. This pulled me into what has become known as long covid.
Thank you so much, Dr. Robert, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
