Heal Your Past, Empower Your Present: Insights from Jeena Harleen’s ‘Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child’

Why Healing the Inner Child Matters

Childhood is a critical time in every person’s life. Experiences—both big and small—shape the way we perceive ourselves and interact with the world. Sometimes, these early years include hurts or fears that stay hidden as we grow older. In Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child: Overcome Childhood Trauma, Learn to Let Go and Forgive, Discover Your True Self, and Live Your Authentic Life, author Jeena Harleen explores how unhealed emotional wounds from childhood can quietly influence adult behavior. Imagine a young child trying to navigate heavy adult responsibilities—this is what it can feel like if your inner child’s pain is left unresolved. In these instances, impulsive decisions or persistent self-doubt may arise, pointing to the need for deliberate attention and care for that hidden, younger self.

A key aspect of this book is recognizing the power of childhood memories and how deeply they can impact adult life. When unresolved trauma takes center stage, it can lead to toxic relationship patterns or ongoing low self-esteem. Harleen underscores how awareness is the first step: by bringing these issues to the surface, you begin to clear the path for transformative personal growth.

The EMBRACE Approach: A Roadmap to Wholeness

Central to Harleen’s work is her seven-step EMBRACE Your Inner Child method, a carefully laid-out process that guides readers toward recognizing, understanding, and healing childhood wounds. While each individual’s journey is unique, the structure of the EMBRACE method provides clarity for those uncertain about where or how to begin. Readers are led through identifying core emotional triggers, establishing safe spaces to express vulnerability, and practicing self-compassion on a regular basis.

One of the biggest revelations in this method is learning how to honor the voice of your younger self while maintaining the balance required in an adult life. A wounded inner child is not simply a relic of the past—it’s an active presence that, once healed, can introduce a sense of wonder and creativity back into everyday living. The EMBRACE steps reflect a belief that healing childhood traumas isn’t just about easing pain; it’s also about reclaiming the joy and freedom often tucked away over the years.

Tools and Exercises for Daily Progress

Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child is filled with practical exercises designed to give readers immediate ways to work through emotional blocks. These include guided meditations, journaling prompts, and visualization techniques meant to uncover long-buried emotions. There are also actionable suggestions—over ten, in fact—for setting up a nurturing environment, be it a dedicated corner at home or a comforting spot outdoors, where individuals can process their feelings without fear of judgment.

She further emphasizes the importance of celebrating small milestones. Each step toward self-awareness—whether it’s a moment of clarity during a breathing exercise or completing a daily journaling session—builds momentum. Over time, these consistent efforts establish new patterns that replace the old, unproductive cycles. The book also includes vivid real-life examples of individuals who overcame challenging childhood experiences, reinforcing the message that healing is possible when approached methodically and with compassion.

Another vital theme is the necessity of letting go. Whether it’s guilt, shame, or deeply ingrained resentment, clinging to these emotions can hinder progress. The text outlines clear techniques for releasing pent-up negativity, offering a sense of relief that often feels long overdue. By proactively working through these emotions, readers gain emotional resilience, improve their relationships, and foster a healthier sense of self-worth.

About the Author: Jeena Harleen

Jeena Harleen’s background illustrates the power of resilience in the face of difficulty. Raised in a home marked by anger and alcoholism, she found herself facing serious challenges early on, ultimately leaving home at 17. Seeking safety and love, she encountered further adversity, including struggles with a controlling mother-in-law. These experiences, painful as they were, set her on a path of self-discovery, leading her to embrace yoga, meditation, and Reiki as forms of healing.

In the wake of personal loss and introspection, Jeena recognized that many people carry invisible wounds from childhood. Her mission emerged: help others break free from limiting beliefs and emotional burdens by reconnecting with their inner child. Residing in Los Angeles with her two children, Jeena continues to refine her holistic practices and dreams of building a wellness center to support those on similar journeys. Her message resonates with individuals looking to turn past trials into stepping stones for a brighter future.

Hi Jeena, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hi, I am a Yoga and Meditation Teacher. I found these practices to change my outlook on life and how to be more present and enjoy the moment. My mother influenced me to do it as she was dying of cancer, and my first child was on the way. She knew it would help relieve my stress. It actually did help me through her passing and also through my divorce.

Please tell us about your book, ‘Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child.’

This book is about healing from your past wounds as a child. It can cause many problems in relationships if you show up with all your pain without doing any of the inner work.

I decided to write this book because I feel my past pain and journey can be a positive and inspirational story, knowing that you can overcome that past trauma and turn your life around for the better. It is an easy-to-follow guide with meditations, journaling, affirmations, and many helpful tools to overcome trauma and learn how to forgive those who hurt you. It contains positive affirmations to reclaim self-love and more. It teaches one to face that past pain so that it will no longer control or trigger your emotions. This can be a helpful guide to keep handy when old patterns seem to set back in.

Please share your journey with our readers.

I grew up in an abusive home due to my father’s excessive drinking habits and physical violence. My parents forced me to marry my boyfriend as soon as I finished high school, only to fall victim to his mother’s controlling abusive behavior. She kept me as a prisoner basically and said my husband could go out while I stayed in her kitchen. She also told me to never think about moving out and taking her son away from her. After attempts of suicide and realizing this is not how I would like my life story to be, I exited that hellish life because I knew I was meant to do something bigger here. Then, soon after leaving, I fell in love. Painfully, I learned that I had married someone similar to my father with bad drinking habits, disrespect, and a very bad temper. I did not want my kids to learn that this type of behavior was acceptable, so I got the courage to make that big step and leave after years of couples counseling and a trial separation. My way to give back is to use my pain and gifts at the same time to help others on their healing journey. It is easier to empathize with people who have been through similar pain.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

The strategies that helped me to become more successful were believing, manifesting, and not giving up. I did a lot of reading, inner work, and therapy. My kids help me be more successful each day because I have to be a good role model for them.

Any message for our readers?

All that you seek is inside of you. After all that you have gone through, you have to find your way back to love, to yourself, to home. Take your time during your healing journey and be gentle with yourself each step of the way. Just know that there is hope and light once you have acknowledged and felt what you were supposed to in the process. You will have a new, more healthier relationship with yourself and others around you. Happy Healing!

Thank you so much, Jeena, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
