1. Please tell us something about yourself.
I’m an entrepreneur from Jacksonville, Florida, host of The Hustler’s Choice Podcast, and founder of Mashman Media! I’m looking to change the world and serve as a role model for millions of people to look to in the future, as well as show what is possible when you put your head down and work in the 21st century regardless of one’s background. My goal is to ultimately leave behind a meaningful legacy I can be proud of.
2. How did you get into entrepreneurship? Please tell us more about your journey as an entrepreneur?
I originally got involved in entrepreneurship back in 2017 when I was still a senior in highschool. Looking for ways to make money off of my phone, I saw another young man slightly older than me who was into dropshipping, had a clothing line and a lawn service. Seeing his success motivated me to get creative and find something to pursue. Looking back now, I always had entrepreneurial tendencies, but it wasn’t until that year I really recognized that I’m an entrepreneur by nature. Since then, I’ve spent a year in network marketing, ran a not so official clothing line, established a personal brand and now am pursuing my company, Mashman Media where I am working with musicians and rappers on branding and podcasts in management and development.
3. Who are your role models?
Gary Vaynerchuk was one of the first people I looked at as a role model, but since then there is an entire list of people such as Bob Proctor, Ed Mylett, Andy Frisella of the MFCEO Project, Tai Lopez, Grant Cardone and various successful entrepreneurs such as Alex Morton and Austin Godsey who were (and figuratively speaking are still) my mentors when I was in network marketing.
4. Did you read any books that inspired or motivated you in your journey?
Absolutely! My all time favorite, and arguably one of the best self-development books of all time is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I’ve also read As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, and various books such as Higher Status by Jason Capital, The Art of the Goal by Tanner Haas and Way of The Wolf by Jordan Belfort.
5. Please tell us about your company
Launched in July of this year, Mashman Media specializes in two areas; musician/artist branding and marketing, and podcast management/development.
Mashman Media helps artists with establishing their brands to ensure they come across as professional, unique and appealing to new people every time they’re seen. 47% of all revenue in the music industry comes from streams, so developing a solid fanbase is more important than ever, especially when it comes to online support, which then converts to streams and shares.
We also work with individuals who have, or are looking to start a podcast. Whether they are just at the beginning stages or are a large figure, we cover management, distribution and optimization to ensure the show is performing at its peak capacity.
6. What’s your most memorable experience as an entrepreneur?
Back in May of 2018, I took a trip to see Alex Morton speak at an event in Minneapolis. Not to go into too much detail, but I took a 16 hour bus from Jacksonville, FL, to NYC where I then waited for 4 hours to get picked up by my team members whom I had yet to meet in person. From there, we drove to Chicago, and then on to MN to attend the event. All running on caffeine and motivation, we showed up to see him speak.
At the end of the event, I went up to talk to Alex, and he was so driven by my story he invited us all out to a sushi dinner. Sitting in the presence of a multimillionaire, and someone who could spend that kind of money at the drop of a card was… It was unbelievable. It allowed my mind to expand and see the possibilities, as well as ask him some questions which have stuck with me to this day.
7. Are you using any online marketing strategies for your company? How are you using different social media channels to market your company?
Most all of my client work comes from direct messaging on either Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I haven’t reached the point of running advertisements, and honestly don’t know if I ever will. The most powerful form of marketing known to man is word of mouth.
To find prospective clients, I have been growing my personal brand. As my personal brand grows so will my company. It’s a symbiotic relationship :-).
8. What’s your greatest fear as an entrepreneur?
I’m afraid of the thought of sitting on my deathbed when I’m old and looking back over my life with regret. Regret stings worse than any poison.
I am also fearful of not living up to my potential, as well as wasting my time on earth.
9. What’s the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?
Self-awareness, my competitive nature and my unwillingness to settle all tie in hand-to-hand. Without one of the three, I wouldn’t be anywhere positive in life. I will say however, I am by no means successful, and have a long way to go before I ever feel like I am!
10. What are your success habits?
I try my best to read at least 20 pages of a book that covers a topic involving business or personal growth.
I also listen to podcasts and audios for an hour or more each day. There are a lot of rare, and golden recordings on SoundCloud, some by Napoleon Hill himself!
Finally I’m working on getting my schedule back on track. I respect the power of a healthy sleep schedule, and am aiming to start getting up each morning before 6am.
11. What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I’ve always loved being a part of something bigger. By helping people whether that be in branding, management or coaching it’s an amazing feeling to see the results achieved by my clients after the services are rendered, and the knowledge is applied.
Because I am also growing my personal brand and name, setting an example for others is a large, but rather enjoyable thing to do.
12. What keeps you going when things get tough?
There are a lot of things that keep me going. I know for one that I have come too far to just give up. I know what the future has in store for me and my family, as well as the millions of people who will be inspired to action by the things I do later on in life.
This journey is not meant to be easy, and if it were, more people would be at the top.
I have too much to do to stop now.
