Slovakia entrepreneur shares his journey of becoming a Professional Brand Designer

Brock Brand Designer 1

Today, we have the privilege of interviewing Brock, who is a 19 years old passionate graphic designer. He currently lives in the beautiful country Slovakia; however, he was born in Poland. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any chance to learn the Polish language, because he moved to Slovakia when he was five. He speaks Slovak, English, and Spanish language. He is an active sportsman, and in his free time, he works for a variety of clients in graphic design. Most commonly, he designs logos and brand identities. He has over 3 years of experience working in his family’s digital agency.

1. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

I was always a very creative person, and when I was 15, I discovered a straightforward tool for designers – GIMP. In a year, I heard about Photoshop and Illustrator. If I have to be honest, I immediately fell in love with them. Then I was learning all-important skills mainly from Youtube. When I was 17, I started helping in our family’s digital agency, where I met a couple of amazing designers. I was fortunate at that time because they were coaching me in person. I was able to learn how to work with clients and also how the process behind creating a logo looks like. Then I started discovering my hidden talents until I found what I love – designing brands that connect businesses and customers. Now I’m 19, and I work as a freelancer. Now I offer branding services like branding, rebranding, and also visual identity systems. This is how I became a professional brand designer. In the future, I would like to focus mainly on providing value to my clients, like writing e-books and some helpful articles.

2. Who are your role models?

My biggest inspiration is Chris Do. He is a fantastic teacher and designer, and now he is running a couple of businesses that helps designers like me. Feel free to check his videos on the channel The Futur on Youtube. He is providing tons of value with his videos, and I learned a lot of things. There are different types of videos he is uploading; however, I enjoy mostly ones where I can learn how to develop a relationship with my clients.

3. Please tell us about the work that you do.

I offer different types of branding services. The main goal is to help entrepreneurs to build their brands for their new businesses. That means, if there is someone who is launching a new business, he can talk to me, and we will start with any branding package I offer. Also, if someone needs me for a smaller project like banners or web design, I’m available.

4. How are you using different social media channels/online marketing to market your work?

I was trying using Instagram for networking, and I really enjoy it! Right now, I want to focus on building my fan base and share a lot of valuable knowledge for designers out there. I think it’s human nature to help each other, and Instagram is like created for this.

5. What’s your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is going on a video-call with my client for the first time. I’m always nervous before, however, when we start, and we are 5 minutes in, it’s fine then. The hardest is the first 5 minutes. I always wondered where this fear is coming from, and I think it’s because I’m not native English.

6. What keeps you going when things get tough?

If you have goals and you wholeheartedly believe you can achieve them, there is nothing that can stop you. The beginning is always hard, but it’s harder to keep going. It’s essential to set high goals and goals that can be achieved every week. This way, you can keep your mood up and keep grinding when things get tough.
