1. Please tell us something about yourself.
I am a full time technology professional with a deep passion for film-making, street poetry and desire to get this creation to rise over man made barriers such as colours, races and religions. I was born in GOA, India and moved to London when I was in my mid-teens. I then moved to Dubai 9 years later. Finally 20 years after that I moved to lovely Singapore where I have been for just over 6 years. I live here with my wife Alia and my 9 year old girl Tania.
2. Please tell us more about your journey
I am a mere mortal in a high placed technology role with DHL, and a part time humanitarian using films and poetry as a medium.
3. Who are your role models?
My role models have always been John Lennon, Bob Marley, Mother Thereza, Gandhi and Charlie Chaplin’s character – the Tramp. Believe it or not, I consider Homer Simpson to be a great family man role model too.
4. Did you read any books that inspired or motivated you in your journey?
I really am less of a reader because every book I was keen to read was either made into a film or a documentary. Nothing like getting educated by watching and a bowl of popcorn
5. Please tell us about your company
So I started a non profit organization called ‘The Uncultured Company’ and it’s caption is One World, One Faith, One Race. One Colour, just a different face. It aim to spread the message of peace, love and tolerance via entertainment.
6. What’s your most memorable experience as an filmmaker?
Going to the Cannes film festival at the short film corner in 2013 with my film A God Of Sinners
7. Are you using any online marketing strategies for your company? How are you using different social media channels to market your company?
Not a formal strategy but use Facebook the most, followed by twitter and then Instagram. YouTube is used host all the videos.
8. What’s your greatest fear?
There is no fear per say as I believe what I am doing is to influence people in a positive way. Funding can be an issue but that’s getting a little easier in the digital age.
9. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood about entertainer before you ever got started?
I guess as an entertainer the challenge is always to be understand the pulse of the audience and then to determine how a story is being told.
10. Would you like to share any success secrets that helped you in your journey?
Working with a younger set of people, who bring in new ideas and fresh blood to a project. At the same time having a mature influence to know where I need to stay within a safe guarded line.
11. What do you enjoy most about what you do?
The joy of telling a new story and the excitement of being part of the entire film making process.
12. What keeps you going when things get tough?
Family. Starts and ends there. Add to that a couple of friends. That’s it.
