Today, we are Interviewing Joshua Michael Jenkins. I am a composer, amateur boxer, Crohn’s disease survivor, musician, producer, and now a Recording artist. Let’s hear about his musical journey.
Please tell us something about yourself
I am 27 years old, born on June 8th. I’ve played sousaphone and saxophone since age 11. .
How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?
I have a family of musicians and singers. Music was my first love before sports and boxing.
Who are your role models?
Napoleon, Sugar Ray Robinson, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Dolly Parton, Andre 3000, Johnny Cash, and last but not the least Rihanna and Madam CJ Walker.
What inspires you?
Just like a rose, if you’re not growing in some type of way, then logically, you’re slowly dying. GROW EVERYDAY physically, mentally, and spiritually
What’s your most memorable experience?
The birth of my daughter
Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
I upload music for my loyal fans about 3 times a week. Well, they are not fans. They have become family. Even after all these years, they are still devoted to my music and what I stand for.
What’s your greatest fear?
Breaking a promise
Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
Just because you have talent, it won’t get you noticed. Nowadays, the artist who invests in himself and his music will make it. Don’t wait for an opportunity… Be the opportunity.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I approach life like a boxing match. When preparation meets opportunity, that’s when you find luck. I’ve been through so much, and the best advice I can give you is to LIVE one day at a time. Nothing lasts forever, not even your pain or situation. Each day gets easier to bear. Never submit.
