Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Tony Keyz, a musician from Syracuse, New York.
Hi Tony, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about what it is that you do.
I got my start in music at a young age, like 5 or 6. Honestly, it’s been a long journey, but a journey nonetheless. I know I’ll get my just due soon.
Please tell us more about your journey.
I’ve been rapping for a long time, but I started taking it seriously when I was 16. There are a bunch of musicians in my family, so I was destined to be one. I started playing the drums at church at around 8 years of age. After that, I moved over to keyboards, and soon after that, I picked up the Steel Guitar.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The strategies that helped me become successful are consistency and dedication. One of my biggest inspirations for music was my cousin, Leonard Stephens Jr. He passed away back in 2009. One day he told me, “you have to practice even when you don’t want to.”I was a kid, but that little advice stuck with me!
Any message for our readers.
If I had to advise the readers and anybody on their way up, I’d say, practice when you don’t want to!
Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?
You can find me on Instagram @officialtonykeyz and on YouTube at The Real Tony Keyz.
Thank you so much, Tony, for giving us your precious time. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
