Life takes a painful turn when Katie becomes terminally ill. Her worsening condition eventually leaves her in a coma, placing Wesley in a situation he can barely understand, much less control.
During the night, something remarkable begins happening. Wesley dreams of Silicat and awakens within the world that previously existed through Katie’s imagination. Familiar ideas now feel tangible. Adventures become real experiences, and the realm appears to have dangers of its own.
Wesley develops a powerful conviction that saving Silicat could somehow help him save Katie. That belief sends him forward into an adventure where every discovery carries personal significance.
Joining him is Sir Muffins, the fictional counterpart of their pet cat. Knightly, outspoken, and armed with sharp claws, Muffins brings personality to the story while becoming a valuable companion during Wesley’s increasingly dangerous journey.

The emotional focus is central to Daniel’s vision for the novel. His writing background began at an early age and later developed through competitive writing for local newspapers, Writing.com, Booksie, and other platforms. In 2024, he decided to pursue professional publication more seriously.
That decision eventually brought considerable interest in Silicat. The manuscript received five publishing offers spanning traditional and hybrid arrangements. Daniel chose to establish Depths of Dreams Publishing and independently protect the creative direction of the story.
Preserving Wesley’s emotional journey was especially important. Some publishers interested in the manuscript wanted that aspect reduced. Daniel felt the feelings driving Wesley’s adventure belonged at the center of the book, so he created his own publishing business and continued developing the story according to that vision.
Silicat Grows Into a Larger Creative Universe
The project itself has expanded considerably since those early plans. Originally conceived as a standalone novel, Silicat: Where the Spirit Goes, Magic Follows became the starting point for an entire saga.
The second installment, Thorns of the Rose, was released in March 2026. Beyond the Veil is scheduled for October, continuing the main series. A companion series called Tales of Silicat is also planned, beginning with Robyn’s Eyes.
This expanding universe has developed through creative partnerships as well. Indonesian illustrator Magi Purnomo provides the visual direction and artwork connected with Silicat. Voice actress Ro Lynam has an ongoing relationship with Depths of Dreams Publishing for the audiobook series.
Daniel prefers to remain relatively understated as the creator, allowing the characters, narrative, and artwork to occupy the spotlight. That philosophy also reflects the wider ambition behind Depths of Dreams Publishing, which he hopes can eventually become a hub offering opportunities to other writers and creative partners.
