Pastor Ky Cunningham’s “I Was Used to Being Used” Series Empowers Readers to Break Free from Toxic Cycles

Some books begin with an idea. The I Was Used to Being Used series began with a lived journey through childhood trauma, damaged self-worth, spiritual growth, and restoration.

Through a Christian perspective, Pastor Ky Cunningham addresses the emotional and spiritual effects of exploitation, rejection, abuse, and recurring toxic relationships. The series includes a spiritual warfare manual and a companion workbook, giving readers both foundational teaching and a practical way to apply it.

When Past Wounds Continue Shaping the Present

The first book, I Was Used to Being Used: Christian Spiritual Warfare Manual for Breaking Generational Curses, Overcoming Abuse, Inner Healing, and Defeating the Enemy, is written for readers who feel burdened by experiences they have struggled to leave behind.

Trauma can influence decisions, expectations, relationships, and personal identity long after the original experience has passed. Someone may become so familiar with rejection or exploitation that harmful patterns begin to feel normal. Pastor Ky Cunningham encourages readers to examine these cycles carefully and recognize the spiritual and emotional forces that may be keeping them in place.

The book discusses what Pastor Ky Cunningham describes as the weapons of trauma. These are painful experiences and beliefs that can be used to create fear, shame, isolation, or confusion. By identifying where these patterns began, readers can start addressing the wounds beneath their behavior.

The manual also explores generational curses, ungodly soul ties, spiritual strongholds, and the influence of negative speech. Readers receive guidance for closing spiritual doors, confronting harmful beliefs, and developing a stronger awareness of their authority in Christ.

Inner healing remains central throughout the book. Pastor Ky Cunningham invites readers to reconsider identities formed through pain and to reconnect with the value and purpose God has given them. The process requires honesty, prayer, reflection, and a willingness to face experiences that may have remained hidden for years.

A Workbook Designed for Active Participation

The second book, I Was Used to Being Used: The Companion Workbook for Dismantling Strongholds, Healing Soul Wounds, and Defeating the Enemy, helps readers put the manual’s teachings into practice.

Each section offers interactive life-application assignments that encourage readers to explore personal experiences and recognize unresolved soul wounds. These prompts create space for meaningful self-examination. They also help readers identify the thoughts, relationships, and habits connected to previous trauma.

Strategic prayer points guide readers through focused spiritual work. Subjects include uprooting generational curses, dismantling strongholds, addressing negative speech, and closing doors that may have allowed damaging patterns to continue. The workbook gives readers a clear structure for recording their observations, prayers, decisions, and progress.

Its organization allows the two books to be used together. A reader can study a principle in the manual, consider its meaning, and then complete the related workbook exercises. This creates a personal plan for healing that develops one step at a time.

Pastor Ky Cunningham also places strong emphasis on divine identity. The workbook encourages readers to move away from beliefs formed through rejection and exploitation. Its reflective activities support a healthier understanding of worth, purpose, and spiritual authority through Jesus Christ.
