Soulful Gospel Singer Ellen Hayes’ Latest Single ‘Count Your Blessings’ Spreads Joy and Gratitude

In a world filled with constant demands and distractions, messages of gratitude often carry a special kind of power. Gospel artist Ellen Hayes embraces that truth in her latest release, offering listeners a musical reminder to focus on the blessings that remain present through every season of life.

With the arrival of her new single, Count Your Blessings,” Hayes continues her mission of sharing faith-filled encouragement through music that speaks directly to the heart.

A New Gospel Anthem Rooted in Gratitude

Detroit recording artist, songwriter, and producer Ellen Hayes released her uplifting single “Count Your Blessings” on March 6, 2026. The song arrives at a time when many people are searching for hope, reassurance, and a reason to keep moving forward. Through a combination of heartfelt lyrics and an inviting contemporary gospel sound, Hayes delivers all three.

Built around a smooth mid-tempo stepping groove, the single creates an atmosphere that feels joyful, reflective, and inspiring. From the opening moments, listeners are drawn into a message centered on recognizing God’s goodness and remaining thankful despite life’s challenges.

According to Hayes, the song was created to encourage a mindset of intentional gratitude. She believes that when people take time to acknowledge what God has done in their lives, they often discover that they have far more reasons to be thankful than they initially realized. That simple yet meaningful idea serves as the foundation of the entire recording.

The production blends modern gospel influences with traditional elements that longtime gospel fans appreciate. Rich harmonies, polished instrumentation, and Hayes’ expressive vocal delivery work together to create a listening experience that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Music That Connects Through Faith and Real-Life Experience

One of the qualities that makes “Count Your Blessings” stand out is its ability to connect with listeners from different walks of life. The song’s message reaches beyond age, background, and circumstance because gratitude is a theme that resonates universally.

Hayes has built her career around creating music that reflects everyday experiences. Her songs often explore themes such as perseverance, healing, redemption, faith, and victory. Rather than presenting distant concepts, she shares messages that listeners can relate to on a personal level.

This latest release follows that same approach. The lyrics encourage people to shift their attention toward the positive moments, answered prayers, and unexpected blessings that often get overlooked. Whether someone is celebrating a season of success or navigating a difficult chapter, the song serves as a reminder that hope remains available.

Its versatile sound also contributes to its broad appeal. The track feels appropriate for worship services, community events, family gatherings, and personal listening sessions. It offers encouragement while maintaining an uplifting energy that inspires movement and celebration.

For Hayes, ministry and music have always gone hand in hand. Every release reflects her desire to inspire others through songs that strengthen faith and offer practical encouragement. “Count Your Blessings” continues that tradition with sincerity and purpose.

A Lifetime Dedicated to Gospel Ministry

Ellen Hayes’ connection to music began early in life. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she grew up in a family where music was an everyday part of the household. As the youngest of ten siblings, she was surrounded by singers and musicians who helped shape her passion for the art form.

Her late mother introduced her to the piano, and Hayes began exploring melodies at a very young age. By the time she reached sixteen, she felt a clear calling toward music ministry. That calling would eventually become the foundation of a career spanning decades.

In her early twenties, she started recording music and directing the choir at her home church, where her late father, Pastor Charles Edison, served as pastor. Those experiences helped develop her skills as a vocalist, arranger, songwriter, producer, and choir director.

Her growing catalog reflects years of dedication to gospel music and ministry. One notable achievement came through her single “Another Chance,” which earned recognition on Billboard and MediaBase Gospel charts. The song received awards, widespread praise, and inclusion in the GMWA National Songbook.

As her career continues to evolve, Hayes remains committed to creating music that uplifts and transforms lives through messages grounded in faith.

We had the privilege of interviewing the artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Can you tell us about the origins of your musical journey? What initially inspired you to pursue a career in music, and how did you get started?

My musical journey started at the tender age of 3 years old. My mother playing on our home piano is what initially drew me and inspired my passion for music. My start in the industry came later in my early twenties. I became part of a family gospel group and sang for a twenty-year span with them. After which, I decided to do a solo project, which brings me to where I am today.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your unique sound? Can you share a specific instance where one of these influences had a significant impact on your music?

Some of the biggest musical influences in my life are Walter Hawkins, The Winans, and Commissioned. Anita Baker, Yolanda Adams, Aretha Franklin. Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole. I have listened to and sung these artists’ songs from about 20 years old till now. Anita Baker had a song, “Only for a While,” that got me through some tough times after losing my older brother.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

One of the biggest strategies that helped me on my musical journey was consistency. I kept creating, learning, and pushing forward even during difficult seasons. Building genuine relationships, staying connected with my audience, and remaining true to my message also played a major role. Most importantly, I learned that success is not only about numbers—it’s about creating music that truly reaches and helps people.
