Walter Hansen has announced an exciting new single called The Beach, inviting listeners to step into a dreamy world of shimmering synths and comforting melodies. Below is everything you need to know about this upcoming release, as well as the artist behind it.
A Musical Embrace of Shoreline Serenity
At the heart of The Beach lies a desire to recreate the uplifting calm we often find when gazing out at an endless horizon. Hansen’s approach is less about direct references and more about evoking emotions—think of a quiet morning by the water or the soft glow of a sunset. Through his carefully layered production, he offers listeners a space to reflect, relax, and drift into a peaceful daydream.
This track seeks to capture the way a place or moment can anchor itself in our souls, ultimately becoming a cherished memory we carry forward. The Composer, Singer, and Instrumentalist
The name Walter Hansen has been steadily gathering attention in the world of synthwave and chillwave—genres he approaches with a unique fusion of lived musicality and innovative thinking. Having composed and performed since he was a child, Hansen possesses an innate ability to craft tunes that speak directly to the heart. His knack for weaving diverse elements into cohesive compositions shines through in his warm vocals, crisp production, and masterful saxophone lines.
In fact, Hansen’s early jazz influences stand out on his 2016 instrumental EP, Perspective, which highlights his soulful saxophone style. There, you can hear how comfortable he is with his instrument—almost as if it’s an extension of his own voice. As his music evolved, he began blending more contemporary electronic touches, resulting in grooves that balance organic and synthetic elements effortlessly.
Growing up in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida, Hansen has also collaborated with a range of fellow musicians. Each partnership adds depth to his skill set and broadens his creative palette, allowing him to continuously experiment and refine his sound. From energizing dance beats to intimate, vocal-driven performances, he thrives on pushing boundaries while remaining undeniably true to himself.

It’s that perfect blend of nostalgia and calm that calls to mind the feeling of warm sand slipping through your toes. The track’s melodic structure, vocal layers, and restrained yet evocative instrumentals work together to paint a vivid sonic picture.
Moreover, The Beach exemplifies Hansen’s ongoing evolution. From his jazz-heavy beginnings to his more recent electronic explorations, he constantly redefines how instruments and vocals can coexist. We had the privilege of interviewing Walter Hansen. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Walter, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I’m an indie musician originally from the Tampa Bay Area of Florida. I’ve been in and around music for some time and have been fortunate enough to have worked with some great musicians over the years. I am a first-generation American, and I love the diversity in all of my family’s food. I am definitely a foodie!
Please tell us about your latest single.
My newest release is The Beach. You know, most dog titles are right there in your face, the chorus, all over the verse, etc., but I think this was more about the feeling, the view, trying to capture emotions that can be intertwined in a moment, location, or song…then it burns in you and becomes much more over time, encapsulating that moment forever.
Please share your journey with our readers.
I’ve gone through my doubts about whether or not I should keep up my music and should I keep creating, and I think the best way that I have learned to rectify this is knowing that the artistry that I do is not a choice of “doing or not doing”. It is ever present and can build up, sometimes silently and sometimes very boldly over time, and must be dealt with at some point. For people like us, there is no choice of whether we do it or not; it is more about how we can get this out to the world and maintain a balance with family, friends, life, etc.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Finding a balance, realizing and shifting the reason for creating. It sounds like nuances, but these questions are profound when you are trying to make sense of it in a world that doesn’t always prioritize fine arts as a highly regarded rare commodity. My strategies went from the usual artist moments of creation when it “hits you,” which can be at 1 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning, and you ride that wave until you’ve completed the moment to planning creative moments, making the time, and sort of scheduling it so you can maneuver the rest of the normal life around you.
Any message for our readers?
Hmmmm, there will be people that hate my stuff, like the music, not like my voice, and visa versa, people that may like what I do. I can only share with you what is put into my head, what comes naturally to me, and I try to stay as true to that as possible. It is not always popular, but I want you to know it is real, and it is being created out of thin air. Kinda cool.
Thank you so much, Walter, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
