Author S. Lee Dazzles with ‘Treasure the Goat’: A Delightful Masterpiece for Kids

“Treasure the Goat” by S. Lee, published by CheeFreedomPress, invites readers on a playful adventure where the ordinary transforms into delightful chaos. Centered on Jeanne, a spunky young girl who suddenly finds herself living with a mischievous pet goat, this children’s book is a perfect recipe for giggles, surprises, and hidden lessons. It’s a lighthearted story that resonates with any child who has ever imagined having a pet—or tried to blame their own mess on one!

The Goat-Fueled Adventures

The fun begins when Jeanne’s dad surprises her with Treasure, a cute-looking goat sporting tiny horns and a fluffy tail. From the start, Treasure exudes an aura of innocence—until she starts devouring everything in sight. Homework? Gone. Cupcakes? Destroyed. Jeanne can only exclaim, “It was Treasure!” to her skeptical mom, who’s convinced that one little goat couldn’t possibly cause so much trouble.

But Treasure isn’t just any goat; she’s a walking whirlwind, churning up comedic mischief at every turn. As readers flip through the pages, they’ll find Jeanne’s exasperated attempts to prove that her new pet truly is responsible for the chaos. Then, a twist changes everything: more goats appear out of nowhere—identical to Treasure in nearly every way. Suddenly, Jeanne’s mom has reason to reconsider her doubts. Perhaps Jeanne was right about all those strange goat-led mishaps, and maybe there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

Engaging Lessons Hidden in Laughter

Although “Treasure the Goat” delivers a good dose of fun, it also holds important lessons about understanding, communication, and the consequences of assumptions. Jeanne’s mom learns the hard way that leaping to conclusions can lead to big mix-ups, while Jeanne discovers that speaking up for herself is crucial—even if she feels no one believes her. Together, they navigate a series of events that highlight the importance of listening closely and keeping an open mind.

Children and adults alike will find themselves reflecting on the many times they’ve placed blame on someone—or something—without exploring every possibility. And while the book remains playful and entertaining on the surface, it subtly demonstrates that jumping to conclusions can create misunderstandings. By wrapping these messages in humor and adorable illustrations, S. Lee ensures readers absorb these lessons while fully enjoying the story.

About S. Lee and Her Inspirations

Lee, both the author and illustrator, has a long-standing passion for creative expression. She was born and raised in San Diego, balancing her life as a mother of three and a proud grandmother. Already the author of children’s books such as Olivia Surfs the Stars, she draws her inspiration from real-life moments, often finding story ideas in the laughter and imaginative insights of her loved ones.

Treasure the Goat” was inspired by Lee’s eight-year-old niece, Jeanne, and her dog named Treasure—who, in reality, behaves more like a goat. Her niece’s vivid imagination and the dog’s curious habit of munching on just about anything became the blueprint for the chaos depicted in this humorous tale. The synergy of a child’s limitless creativity and a pet’s unpredictable nature gave rise to this story, reminding readers that life’s quirkiest moments often provide the best inspiration.

Lee’s love for the arts spans beyond writing. She has long been passionate about music, creating songs that capture different facets of life’s adventures. Now, that same creative spark fuels her approach to crafting children’s stories. Each book is a reflection of her heartfelt desire to encourage parents and children to embrace their own imaginative spirit. For S. Lee, the pure joy of storytelling stems from remembering that piece of ourselves that remains forever childlike. Through her whimsical words and bright illustrations, she helps others rediscover that sense of wonder.

Treasure the Goat, is a humorous, rhyming book, with beautiful illustrations. It is inspired by my 8-year-old niece and her dog, Treasure. My niece Jeanne is always making me laugh with her imagination. Her dog Treasure is always eating everything and reminds me of a goat. They are quite a pair.
