Life rarely unfolds in a straight line. More often, it’s a winding road, full of unplanned detours and moments when one stands at a crossroads. How individuals choose their next steps can shape everything from their careers and relationships to their sense of wellbeing. This idea sits at the heart of Beyond the Crossroads: Embrace Adventure, Build Resilience, and Redefine Success on Your Own Terms, a book by James Jules that invites readers into a world where ambition, health, love, and legacy are all essential pieces of the puzzle.
A Global Canvas for Personal Transformation
James’s journey spans iconic cities—Rome, Sydney, London, Paris, Boston—each serving as a backdrop to his evolving understanding of what it means to live fully. Rather than painting these destinations as glossy postcards, he uses them as mirrors. Every cultural encounter, business meeting, and personal milestone provides an opportunity to reevaluate priorities. Whether sipping coffee in a Roman piazza or sealing a high-stakes business deal in London’s financial district, James isn’t merely traveling; he’s learning how every choice shapes his personal and professional life.
In Sydney, for example, time slows down as he stands on Bondi Beach, proposing marriage against a backdrop of crashing waves and new beginnings. In Bali, a spiritual guide helps him see the finite nature of time, prompting him to recalibrate his ambitions in light of mortality. Across these varied landscapes, the consistent theme is the inner journey—a transformation sparked not by luxury or status, but by openness to change and the willingness to absorb life’s lessons.
Beyond the Traditional Success Metrics
Many are familiar with the relentless pursuit of conventional markers of success: the higher salary, the bigger title, the prestigious address. For James, the thrill of business ventures and global networking is real, but never quite enough on its own. As he moves through the world, he realizes that true fulfillment doesn’t come solely from a ledger of achievements.
Instead, he explores what happens when one moves beyond familiar definitions of success. He prompts readers to consider health as an essential criterion, arguing that well-tended physical and mental wellbeing are non-negotiable. Love, too, proves indispensable—supportive relationships can lend meaning to accomplishments that would otherwise feel hollow. The legacy one leaves behind also enters the discussion, urging readers to think not just about what they can gain, but what they can give. In his travels, James meets teachers, friends, and mentors who model all these qualities, encouraging him (and by extension, the reader) to imagine a more expansive vision of success.
Embracing the Power of Time and Resilience
Central to James’s story is the recognition that life’s clock is always ticking. The average human lifespan, expressed in weeks, drives home how limited one’s days truly are. This isn’t meant to instill fear, but rather to inspire thoughtful action. Making the most of these weeks means leaning into discomfort, taking calculated risks, and acknowledging that every setback can be transformed into a stepping stone toward growth.
Resilience isn’t portrayed as a rare gift bestowed upon a few—it’s something anyone can cultivate by facing challenges head-on. James’s experiences highlight that resilience doesn’t mean never stumbling; it means learning how to get back up, adapt, and forge ahead. In moments of uncertainty—when deals fall through, health concerns arise, or personal relationships hit rough patches—he demonstrates how to stay grounded in one’s values and keep sight of the bigger picture.
A Model for Readers on Their Own Paths
Beyond the Crossroads isn’t just a memoir of globetrotting adventures and meaningful encounters. It’s a blueprint for readers who find themselves questioning the traditional script for success. It reassures those who feel torn between professional ambition and personal wellbeing that these two forces can coexist. By witnessing James navigate the push and pull of career goals, romantic commitments, and personal fulfillment, readers can glean insights on how to achieve their own balance.
For anyone stuck at their own life’s crossroads—whether that means choosing between jobs, contemplating a move abroad, or simply trying to prioritize health and family—James’s journey offers guidance and perspective. The book suggests that change, while often uncomfortable, can ultimately lead to a richer, more purposeful life.
In the end, Beyond the Crossroads serves as a gentle reminder: success can be redefined, resilience can be learned, and adventure can shape character in unexpected ways. By embracing life’s turning points with curiosity and courage, readers can step beyond their comfort zones and discover what truly makes their time on this earth meaningful.
We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Thank you for having me! My name is James Jules, and I’m an entrepreneur, global traveler, author, and an artist. Over the years, I’ve built businesses across different continents—from Europe to Australia to the United States—while navigating the joys and challenges of personal growth, relationships, and maintaining wellness. My professional journey has always been about more than just success—it’s about resilience, purpose, and finding balance in life’s big crossroads.
In addition to my work in business, I’m also passionate about painting. Art has been a creative outlet for me since I was young, and over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit my work in galleries, which has been a deeply rewarding experience. Painting allows me to express the emotional landscapes that words sometimes can’t capture, and this creative practice also informs my writing and the themes in my book, Beyond the crossroads.
My book explores how to embrace ambition without losing sight of what truly matters—our health, relationships, and the joy of living fully. It’s a reflection of my global experiences, blending lessons learned from building businesses, traveling the world, and pursuing creativity. I hope it inspires readers to live with intention and to see life’s challenges as opportunities for growth and meaning.

Please tell us about your journey.
My journey has been anything but linear, and that’s what makes it so meaningful. I was born in Rome, Italy, surrounded by history, art, and family traditions that shaped my understanding of resilience and ambition. Growing up, I was inspired by my grandfather, Giuseppe, who built his life and legacy from nothing. He taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and staying grounded no matter how high you climb.
As I got older, my love for art and creativity merged with a desire to make an impact, which led me to pursue entrepreneurship. Over the years, my career took me across continents—from Sydney to Warsaw, Boston to Paris—where I built businesses, learned new cultures, and faced the challenges of balancing ambition with personal wellbeing. Each city taught me something invaluable: resilience in Warsaw, precision and ambition in Singapore, balance and love in Paris, and community in Sydney.
But it hasn’t been just about business. Alongside my professional journey, I’ve explored my passion for painting, held exhibitions, and embraced long-distance running, rugby, and rock climbing. These pursuits taught me the importance of taking care of myself, physically and mentally, while staying connected to the people and moments that matter most.
Meeting Valeria, my partner and now fiancée, was another transformative part of my journey. Together, we’ve navigated the challenges of building careers, traveling the world, and finding time to nurture our relationship. It was through her love and insight that I began to truly understand the balance between success and well-being.
My journey is what inspired me to write Beyond the Crossroads. It’s a story of navigating life’s pivotal moments, of pushing past boundaries while staying true to your roots, and of finding joy in the everyday. I’ve learned that life is not just about the destinations but the lessons and relationships you build along the way. My hope is that readers see a piece of their own journey in mine and feel empowered to live with purpose and resilience.”**
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
My journey has been a mix of ambition, resilience, and continuous learning, and several strategies have played a crucial role in helping me navigate it successfully. Here are the ones that stand out:
● Embracing Resilience
Life is full of challenges, and the ability to adapt and push through setbacks has been key. I’ve faced failures, rejections, and moments of doubt, but each one taught me something valuable. Instead of fearing failure, I’ve learned to see it as a stepping stone to growth.
● Staying Curious and Open to Learning
Whether it’s through books, mentors, or new experiences, I’ve always prioritized learning. Traveling to different countries and immersing myself in new cultures not only expanded my worldview but also gave me insights that shaped my personal and professional decisions.
● Building Genuine Relationships
Success isn’t a solo journey. Throughout my life, I’ve surrounded myself with people who inspire, challenge, and support me. From mentors like my grandfather Giuseppe to the partnerships I’ve built across the globe, these relationships have been a foundation for both success and fulfillment.
● Prioritizing Health and Wellbeing
For a long time, I believed success required constant hustle, often at the expense of my health. But over time, I realized that taking care of my physical and mental wellbeing wasn’t just important—it was essential. Running, painting, rugby, and climbing became not just hobbies but ways to stay grounded and energized.
● Setting Clear Intentions
Knowing why I’m doing something has always helped me stay focused. Whether it’s building a business, writing my book, or planning my future with Valeria, I always ask myself: What’s the purpose? How does this align with my values and long-term vision?
● Adapting to Change
The world is unpredictable, and being flexible has been crucial. When circumstances shifted—whether in business or life—I learned to pivot without losing sight of my ultimate goals. Adaptability has been one of the most important tools in my toolbox.
● Balancing Ambition with Gratitude
It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of more, but I’ve learned to take a step back and appreciate what I have—whether it’s a small win, a meaningful conversation, or a quiet moment at sunrise. Gratitude keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters.
Ultimately, my success is less about reaching a destination and more about how I’ve approached the journey. Staying resilient, prioritizing relationships and health, and living with intention have been the pillars of my growth. These strategies are what I hope to share through my book, Beyond the Crossroads, so others can apply them to their own lives and create success on their terms.
Any message for our readers
Absolutely. To everyone reading this, my message is simple: your life is made up of moments—each one a square on the page of your story. You have the power to decide how you fill those moments. Don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ time or the ‘right’ conditions; life is happening now.
Remember, success isn’t just about climbing the ladder, achieving big milestones, or checking off goals—it’s about finding balance, cherishing your health, and nurturing the relationships that truly matter. It’s about embracing life’s challenges as opportunities to grow, and celebrating the small victories along the way.
Most importantly, prioritize what makes you feel alive. Whether it’s pursuing a passion, spending time with loved ones, or simply pausing to appreciate a beautiful sunset, these are the moments that create a meaningful life. As I write in Beyond the Crossroads, the journey is where the magic happens.
Time is the most precious resource we have. Make the most of it. Fill your pages with intention, love, and resilience. You have the power to create a life that is not only successful but deeply fulfilling. Start today, because your story is worth living fully.
Thank you so much, James, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
