We had the privilege of interviewing Joshua Ferdinand. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Hi Joshua, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hi, I am currently teaching in health sciences at a University, but I started my teaching journey with Key Stage 2, which is 7-11 year olds. I had a great time, and I bring that experience in an enjoyable literary exploration that touches on themes of colonialism, climate change, and culture.

Please tell us about your book, ‘The Last Words of Albion.’

It’s a brilliant book for parents and teachers of 9-12 year olds who have an interest in literature, history, culture, or climate and want their kids to be able to have critical thinking skills while enjoying an artistic, literary journey.

Please share your journey with our readers.

I come from what was known as a “disadvantaged background or lower socio-economic group for Australians. Basically, I was raised by a single mother on an ultra-low income. I know that there are millions of kids and parents in situations where they want to build a connection. This book gives them an opportunity to do so and learn a little bit about the world we live in.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I have faced many challenges and setbacks in my life. However, these experiences have taught me that life isn’t just black and white. What once seemed like failures turned out to be valuable opportunities for growth, shaping me into the person I am today. That’s why haiku was so important to this message.

Any message for our readers?

If you desire to explore our rich and wonderful world, I hope you love these haiku and activities with your children.

Thank you so much, Joshua, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
