Adventure Awaits in Lyck Liss’s ‘The Count’s Dark Threat’: A Magical Beginning for a Brilliant Trilogy

The Magic of Courage: Exploring The Count’s Dark Threat

Books have a way of pulling children into worlds where anything feels possible. Lyck Liss’s The Count’s Dark Threat does exactly that, opening the first chapter in the Little Beings of Light series. It’s a thrilling middle-grade fantasy filled with adventure, mystery, and heart, written for readers who love discovering new lands, brave heroes, and stories that celebrate the light within us all.

A Universe Under Siege

In this imaginative tale, the balance of the galaxy is under threat. Two ancient forces—Endless Darkness and The Almighty Light—struggle for control of existence. From this looming conflict rises Count Daark, a villain whose power and malice put every life at risk. The story throws ordinary children into this extraordinary battle, asking them to face challenges they never dreamed possible.

As the plot unfolds, readers follow Blue, Dee, and their friends across enchanting but perilous landscapes. They’re not warriors or trained heroes; they’re children trying to protect the ones they love. The urgency builds when Lou, a small puppy with a heart-shaped mark on his fur, becomes the target of Count Daark’s wrath. Why is this little pup so important? Why does the Count fear him? These questions drive the young characters forward as they race to protect Lou and unlock secrets that could determine the future of their world.

Meet the Brave Companions

The heart of The Count’s Dark Threat beats strongest through its characters. Lyck Liss gives each of them unique traits that young readers will recognize in themselves or their friends.

  • Blue Litleone carries the weight of strange nightmares about his missing father. His sharp intellect and calm spirit make him a natural anchor in chaotic times.

  • Dee Litleone shines with intelligence and artistic talent, but her compassion makes her stand out even more.

  • Singo Litleone, at only seven, is a spark of joy and courage, proving that bravery isn’t tied to age.

  • Miya Twill brings drama and resilience, having escaped hardship before finding her place with The Koala Circus Group.

  • Papelle Gaal bursts with energy and mischief, wearing her wild pigtails and pink-powered sneakers like badges of adventure.

  • Cody Twill stands as a reminder that quirks and challenges don’t weaken a hero—they make one unique.

Adding to this mix are magical allies like the Rainbow Butterfly, with its secret heart-shaped wing, and Lou the Puppy, whose role is far larger than his playful paws suggest. Together, these characters create a cast that children can cheer for, laugh with, and sometimes worry over as they journey into danger.

Beyond the magic and adventure, Lyck Liss threads real-world values into every page. The narrative is guided by the Aria Sagin Values of Humanity, which give the story its moral foundation. These values are simple, yet powerful: be kind to others, care for animals, defend those who can’t defend themselves, nurture your talents, protect the environment, love your family and friends, exercise body and mind, seek understanding, and include everyone.

Readers don’t just see these values listed—they see them lived. When the children show loyalty to one another, when they protect Lou at great risk, or when they embrace inclusion, the message shines. It’s a reminder that the greatest adventures aren’t only about defeating villains, but also about becoming the kind of person who makes the world better. Parents and teachers will find these values useful for sparking meaningful discussions after reading.

The Imagination of Lyck Liss

Lyck Liss brings both passion and purpose to this story. From a young age, he was inspired by the magic of The Chronicles of Narnia, the excitement of the Famous Five, and the cleverness of Agatha Christie’s mysteries. Those early influences fuel his writing today, but he adds a personal vision: helping young readers believe in their own light.

When he isn’t weaving fantasy adventures, Liss enjoys time in nature and sharing tales that encourage imagination. With The Count’s Dark Threat, he doesn’t just create a story for children to read—he builds a journey that young readers can carry with them, long after they’ve closed the book.

Why This Adventure Matters

The Count’s Dark Threat is more than a fantasy novel. It’s a bridge between magical storytelling and real-life lessons, wrapped in an adventure that keeps readers turning the pages. Children are drawn to the suspense, the villains, and the mysteries. Parents and educators will appreciate the focus on kindness, courage, and responsibility.

The book is available on Amazon and Goodreads, and additional resources can be found on the series’ official website. As the first entry in the Little Beings of Light trilogy, it sets the stage for more epic adventures, deeper mysteries, and further exploration of what it means to live with courage and compassion.

For young readers seeking excitement and for adults hoping to guide children toward meaningful lessons, The Count’s Dark Threat offers both. It’s a tale where friendship becomes the strongest weapon against fear, and where every child learns that they matter more than they realize.

We had the privilege of interviewing Lyck Liss. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Hi, it’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hello, essentially, I am a storyteller, and it has been a big dream of mine to bring stories to the children of the world that captivate and inspire them in their solitude and in the company of their loved ones.

Please tell us about your journey.

Writing has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. It all began with a very ambitious (and not quite finished) whodunit novel in first grade. I believe it was my beagle, Lykke, who inspired me to create a book series. I vividly recall the moment it all started in a bookshop located in Trafalgar Square in London, UK. During that visit, my beagle somehow sniffed out a Children’s Writers and Authors Yearbook 2012 from one of the shelves. That was my try-a-ha moment! Since then, I have navigated through countless drafts, celebrated tiny victories, and embraced the wonderful process of writing children’s stories. Along the way, I’ve teamed up with superb collaborators like the illustrating team Dazzling Media and editor Kerry Plume, who helped bring my visions to life.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I believe that writing stories and content you truly feel passionate about sharing should be at the centre of your journey. Consistency and maintaining a dedicated writing schedule are essential—being a committed vessel for the story that unfolds within you, nurturing it by understanding your characters, worlds, and the events that materialize in your manuscript. Showing appreciation for those you collaborate with is also crucial, as their support brings your vision to life. Additionally, testing your story ideas with the target reader community is an invaluable step to ensure your work resonates and connects with your audience.

Any message for our readers?

Keep reading, dreaming, and believing in the power of stories to inspire change and bring us together. Take good care of yourselves and the ones you love, nurture your interests and most important of all… have fun!

Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
