Hi Catherine, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hi, I’m Catherine, a UK-born author and translator based in Barcelona, Spain. I write non-fiction books for young readers, focusing on social and emotional learning, designed to help children develop confidence, empathy, and emotional awareness, as well as fun to read. I also create dual-language (Spanish-English) books as I think they’re a great way to pick up a second language.

Please tell us about your book. 

This is a workbook that’s full of hands-on activities that help children with things like recognizing their emotions, managing big feelings, building self-confidence, and managing friendship situations. It includes mindfulness, CBT techniques, and different exercises that help support kids in growing into confident, resilient, and kind individuals! Plus, it’s fun and has lots of bright pictures!

I’ve always been passionate about language, culture, and books to shape young minds. My journey started with translation, where I helped bring stories to new audiences. Over time, and after becoming a mum myself and getting interested in child development, I created a series of children’s books focused on supporting children’s emotional well-being. For these books, I work with my sister, Jenny, who is an educational and child psychologist.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey? 

One of the key strategies has been focusing on what children truly need—making sure my books are practical, engaging, and accessible. I also prioritize collaboration, working with educators, psychologists, and parents to ensure my books are effective and meaningful. Another important factor has been staying adaptable and keeping up with new research in child development, emotional intelligence, and bilingual education to make my work as helpful as possible.

Any message for our readers?

Helping our children develop emotional literacy is one of the best gifts we can give them. Whether it’s through books, conversations, or daily interactions, small moments of learning can have a lifelong impact.
