Today, we are interviewing Enlightened Sou7, she is a therapist. Her passion dwells in embracing the true self and authenticity. She encourages others on their life path journey for change and discover their true self.
Please tell us something about yourself.
I was attracted to becoming a therapist because of wanting to understand more about mental disorders and behaviors. There is so much beauty in using intervention techniques such as grounding techniques and mindfulness to take care of the mind. During times such as these, it is important to be in tune with the inner self and have self-understanding.
How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.
I began my journey back in about 2010 while working at a fast-food restaurant at Arby's. During that time, I wanted to be a fashion designer. My journey started while I was on break, and a guy had stopped me and stated, “I don't know why but I have been feeling depressed and feel that I should talk to you”. At the time, my dream was to become a fashion designer and attend a fashion school. I was not even thinking of wanting to be a therapist at that time. In return, I provided the guy with some sincere words to help with what he was going through. I spoke with my friends, and they told me that a therapist would be a like-minded career to pursue based on my personality.
Who are your role models?
My role models are definitely Maya Angelou. She is so wonderful, God bless! One of my favorite quotes is the quote where she states, people remember the way you make them feel. That's so important and shows that words stand behind so much value as well as action. It is so important because we communicate a great deal nonverbally. A welcoming smile is important to be approachable to others. Also, notice that the energy we provide this world can be a gift to ourselves as well as others.
What inspires you?
Great question. I am inspired by authenticity and being able to the true self. I admire those who have walked the path of authenticity in the past, such as Nina Simone, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and so forth. I am a major fan of Carl Jung's work. I believe that his work was way ahead of the times and is so impactful. The work he did with dreams concerning the collective unconscious, archetypes, and so much more was inspiring. Carl Jung's work helps one understand the things in life that we experience to stand behind the meaning. I am also inspired by the holistic approach, which consists of healing the mind, body, and spirit. The mind, body, and spirit need to be in unison to experience the authenticity of the true self.
Please tell us about what you do.
I am currently working on true self courses and spreading positive love and light in the universe. We are experiencing very tough times, we must remember the importance of love and unity consciousness. I am currently writing a book on manifesting the true self. I was inspired to write a book due to some personal experiences that I have experienced as well as some experiences that I have seen through others.
What's your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience was when I found my soul purpose in life. It was a different type of energy that I had experienced. It felt very invigorating and so alive. Being able to take the necessary time within myself and pay attention to who I was becoming was very powerful in so many ways. I had to connect with my true self at one of my lowest moments in life, and it was not easy. Having to face unfinished business within me. However, when I was willing to do the inner soul work, I started to fall in love with who I truly am. Positive affirmations definitely had helped me in so many ways. Self-love is most definitely important to see the true self.
Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
I am currently on Instagram under the name enlightened_sou7. I chose the number 7 because it is my life path number. Along with that, an enlightened being never stops learning. I believe that we are all enlightened beings on this earth and are here to learn about ourselves. On my social media, I encourage authenticity and being able to look within. I believe in the importance of healing the mind, body, and spirit to be in tuned with the true self. This is crucial; there are so many things in life we experience due to traumatic experiences that brings us out of alignment in who the universe wanted us to become. To get to that place, we must first get to know our authentic selves before making a difference in the universe or world. It works for me because while working on becoming my higher self, I can encourage others as well on my journey.
What's your greatest fear?
My greatest fear in life is that I will not live out my soul purpose in life. My soul purpose means too much to me because it is really internally fulfilling to encourage others, especially when it is difficult to have something to believe or the motivation to understand what motivates a person. My greatest fear is also having a lack of self-understanding and not knowing myself and what is my role in this universe as an individual. I believe that we all are given a soul purpose in life, but it is up for us individually to look within and to find that out. However, I understand that it is not always easy to look within because it requires dealing with certain parts of the self that are not healed. Healing takes time and requires a great deal of self-love.
Looking back, what's one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
If there is one thing that I can do differently is not rushing things in life that society requires us to have and learn to live in the moment. We are pressured in society to achieve so many things to demonstrate being productive. However, there is so little discussion about taking the time and realizing the inner self. Self-realization and individuation are important. Part of the process of living a life of peace and harmony is recognizing that we must first compel a strong sense of self before choosing occupations, mates, or so forth that we desire. Not saying that we have to be perfect but have an understanding of the self.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Strategies that have helped me on my journey is meditation. Meditation is so powerful. It allows freedom in mind, to let go of thoughts. It is important to become true self, but to become the true self, it can require you to become void of things you once knew. Letting go of what no longer serves you to welcome the highest good in your life. It takes patience, diligence, and consistency to sit that place. Being transparent in the beginning process when I decided to make changes in myself was so helpful. It allowed me to see areas in myself that I was not comfortable in and acknowledge them. I then learned to be okay with them. However, I recognized that I still can control the way I feel.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
What keeps me going when things get tough is remembering things that I value. I value listening to my favorite music, I value spending time with my family and friends. I value connecting with others and learning more about them and their experiences in life. When things get tough, I also like to write poetry to help stay inspired.
Any message for our readers.
I encourage readers to open to change and growth of seeing their true selves and authenticity, in knowing and understanding that he or she was created beautiful in so many ways. If there is a reader that struggles with self-worth, self-esteem, just not feeling good enough, they should know that they are already good enough. They should know the beauty of learning to believe in the self. I encourage readers to be inspired by their unique talents and abilities that they can provide in the universe.
How can people connect with you?
People can connect with me by understanding that I connect with others by meeting them where they are at in life. Not expecting to see a perfect picture but transparency. Taking the time to understand that we all come from different backgrounds and cultures, we still can unite and find commonalities among each other. Everything, the people, the animals, the plants, and so forth are interconnected. We all have to collectively work in this universe to come to a place of unity, consciousness, and love. From there, we start to recognize the importance of ourselves within and are seen for the energy that we carry within.
