Tucked away in an ancient and secluded forest stands Cauldron, a secretive haven where young witches hone their magical gifts. Here, the air is thick with mystery, and the paths seem woven with lingering echoes of enchantment. Cauldron’s existence remains hidden from the wider world for a very good reason—beyond its walls, those who fear witchcraft would stop at nothing to extinguish it. In this hallowed refuge, only those deemed worthy are invited to learn, practice, and protect centuries-old traditions that set them apart from ordinary folk.
Among the budding witches is Luna Reed, whose striking beechwood broomstick marks her as someone extraordinary. This particular broom isn’t chosen at random—rather, it’s a rare emblem indicating Luna might shoulder responsibilities greater than any young witch should bear. Yet despite the constant undercurrent of danger, Cauldron offers Luna a semblance of family, a place where she can forge bonds with fellow students and mentors who understand the weight of her gifts. The question that hums through the ancient trees is whether such a fragile sanctuary can survive the hidden threats lurking just beyond its protective wards.
Luna Reed’s Determination and the Druids’ Menace
Luna’s life has been anything but simple. Following a past tragedy that still haunts her thoughts, she remains committed to safeguarding the only home she has left in Cauldron. While her magical instructors caution her about the magnitude of her broomstick’s legacy, Luna fixates on one goal: defending those she loves. It’s a heavy burden for someone so young, but she draws courage from her memories and the fierce promise she made to herself never to lose another loved one.
However, danger arrives in the form of the Druids, a relentless faction bent on purging any and all sorcery that conflicts with their creed. Armed with their own formidable powers and a dogmatic belief in their “light,” the Druids infiltrate Cauldron, tearing down protective wards thought impenetrable. Their crusade threatens to consume the community Luna cherishes. As she wrestles with both her heartbreak and her growing abilities, Luna must decide if she will harness her sorrow to fight back or risk succumbing to despair. The phrase “Who should we truly fear—the witch, or the one who lights the pyre?” underscores the precarious reality of a world where those claiming righteousness might be far from benevolent.
Woven Threads of Darkness, Hope, and Self-Discovery
The Red Hunter Saga seamlessly blends the energy of a coming-of-age story with the stark beauty of dark fantasy. Readers who journey with Luna will witness the unveiling of long-buried secrets and the complexity of ancient vendettas. While the series is steeped in magic, its real essence lies in the emotional battles faced by its characters: the struggle between vengeance and justice, the hope that can spring from sorrow, and the delicate balance of loyalty in times of turmoil.
A significant theme centers on understanding the true nature of power. In Cauldron, witches channel magic with caution, fully aware of the consequences if it falls into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, the Druids proclaim themselves defenders of pure light, yet their unbending zeal can lead them down a darker path. These clashing ideologies imbue the narrative with a charged atmosphere, urging readers to question who truly embodies evil—those who cast spells, or those who would stamp out individuality under the banner of righteousness?

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Hi, my name is Alter Günes. I’m a devoted husband, father of two, and an experienced fantasy writer with over a decade of crafting immersive worlds. My stories blend ancient legends with modern narratives, exploring themes like courage, culture, and identity.
My journey as a writer began in Turkey and deepened after moving to Germany in 2020. Inspired by the captivating tales my grandfather shared during my childhood, I’ve created epic narratives such as the Eternal Epitaph series and the Red Hunter Saga. These works weave together myths, magic, and deep human experiences, resonating with readers of all ages, particularly young adults and fantasy enthusiasts.
Currently based in a small town near Munich called Trostberg, I’m writing the third book in the Eternal Epitaph series and continuing my work on The Red Hunter Saga. Writing has been my lifelong passion, and I am dedicated to crafting stories that transport readers to worlds both familiar and fantastical.
Please tell us about your Book.
My latest book, The Red Hunter Saga: The Relics of Hecate, is a tale that blends magic, vengeance, and destiny into a richly layered narrative. The story follows Luna Reed, a young girl who witnesses the destruction of her village and family by the Druids, powerful enemies who call themselves followers of the Light. Rescued and brought to the magical stronghold known as the Cauldron, Luna discovers her own hidden magical abilities and begins her journey as a Witch’s Apprentice.
As she trains alongside other young witches, Luna forms a profound bond with a rare beechwood broomstick—a symbol of her immense potential. The story weaves through themes of self-discovery, friendship, and resilience as Luna confronts the Druids’ relentless pursuit and uncovers the mystery of ancient relics tied to the goddess Hecate.
The book is an epic adventure filled with magical battles, perilous quests, and moments of deep introspection. It’s a story about finding strength in the face of unimaginable loss, learning to trust in one’s power, and forging a path of hope even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Ultimately, The Red Hunter Saga is perfect for readers who love fantasy worlds steeped in mythology, strong female protagonists, and thrilling adventures that delve into both the light and dark sides of human nature.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey as a writer has been both deeply personal and transformative. It began over a decade ago in Turkey, where I was inspired by the rich tapestry of cultural legends and the storytelling tradition of my grandfather. His vivid tales sparked a lifelong imagination, and I knew early on that I wanted to create worlds and narratives that could transport others.
For years, I explored the fantasy genre, writing as a way to connect with my heritage while weaving modern ideas into my stories. In 2020, I moved to Germany, which marked a turning point in my journey. The transition brought its own challenges, but it also gave me a new perspective and a broader audience to share my work with. I began translating my books into English, determined to reach readers worldwide.
My books, like The Eternal Epitaph series and The Red Hunter Saga, reflect this journey. They are more than stories—they are bridges between cultures, languages, and the universal themes of courage, identity, and resilience. Writing is my way of understanding the world and offering readers a chance to immerse themselves in it.
Today, I continue to evolve, not just as a writer but as someone committed to the craft of storytelling. Every word I write feels like a step forward in this incredible journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
My journey as a writer has been shaped by a combination of strategies, values, and perseverance. A few key strategies that have contributed to my progress are:
- Consistency and Discipline: Writing is a craft that demands dedication. I made it a priority to write regularly, even on days when inspiration was hard to come by. Over time, this discipline allowed me to develop not only my skills but also a strong sense of commitment to my work.
- Drawing from My Heritage and Personal Experiences: One of my strengths has been blending ancient legends and cultural traditions with modern storytelling. I embraced my roots, and that authenticity resonates with readers, creating a unique voice in my books.
- Constant Learning and Improvement: I view writing as an evolving process. I’ve sought feedback from readers and editors, taken creative writing courses, and stayed curious about what makes a story truly engaging. Growth as a writer has been just as important as storytelling itself.
- Embracing Change and Challenges: Moving to Germany in 2020 was a pivotal moment. Adapting to a new environment and translating my work into English not only expanded my audience but also challenged me to refine my craft for an international readership.
- Balancing Writing with My Career: While writing is my passion, my main profession lies in a different field. I work full-time as a Factory Controller, which has taught me invaluable skills in time management, discipline, and creativity. Writing often takes place during my evenings and weekends, making the process even more rewarding as it becomes a space for self-expression and imagination outside of my daily work.
- Staying True to My Passion: Above all, I’ve kept my love for storytelling at the center of everything I do. Writing isn’t just a career for me—it’s a calling. Staying aligned with that passion has kept me focused, motivated, and resilient through the ups and downs.
These strategies have helped me not only grow as a writer but also reach readers who connect with my stories on a personal level. Success, for me, is less about the accolades and more about the impact my work has on others.
